Apologies

Before we start this email I must apologise for anything I have missed out! I will do my best to get everything in, but I often end up putting it all together last thing and so I do forget things – so please let me know if there is anything I have got wrong or missed out and it will
definitely go in the next newsletter. Similarly, if you do like getting the newsletter update – do feel free to let me know that too!

STOP PRESS…….STOP PRESS…… trip to St Brieuc…..

Do you want to be part of our bi-annual exchange trip to St Brieuc, Brittany, France? The trip will take place during Easter 2010. Attached

will be leaving Thursday April 1st , travelling overnight by ferry and arriving in France April 2nd , returning on Wed 7th . All who have
been before claim it is an amazing experience for all involved. The trip is organized by Rosemary, for more information or to register your interest contact her at: rosemary@ceredigion.gov.uk. We will be looking at having another meeting before Christmas for those who are

Success Success Success!

Cerian wins Gold

Cerian's won Gold medal at the 2009 UK School Games at the beginning of September for 200 fly. She also came 4th in the 200m Fly at the British National Youth Championships in Sheffield at the beginning of August in the 16/17 year old age group.

Ben makes regional time and squad

Ben Jones has achieved a regional time at the Cardiff international meet & has in fact since been invited to the Welsh Regional Swimming Squad.

Medals and PB’s galore at Llanelli

17 of our ADASC swimmers competed in the Llanelli autumn meet. Most achieved either a personal best and/or a medal. Some achieved overall success with Chelsey Cody coming first in her age group, Sion and Jamie Owen both second in their age groups and Isaac Williamson Evans was third in his age group. So well done Sion, Dion, Erin, Elinor, Chelsey, Teilo, Nansi, Ruth, Lowri, Steffan, Jamie, Kieron, Oliver, Zoe, Tomos, Isaac and Jonah.

Swimmers do Ceredigion Champs……

Well done to Fergus Pitcher and Guto Price who swam their first gala at the Ceredigion Championships last Sunday. There was a good team of  ADASC swimmers at the event and lots of medals would have been won (had they arrived in the post in time for the gala!) lots of PB’s were had and there will be a lot of successes to announce following the second event in November.

Swimmers at Chris Cook clinic

At the end of July two of our Swimmers, Chelsey and Lowri were lucky enough to be included on a Breast Stroke Clinic with GB Swimmer Chris Cook at Carmarthen Pool. It was a great success and we hope that Swim Wales will help fund other top swimmers to do similar courses hopefully with Aberystwyth as a venue.

Swimming caps

Would anyone like an ADASC swimming cap with their name on the side - first name or surname? Two caps have to be bought (because of setting up the stencil) total cost £11.00. Good for galas.
It will take a few weeks between order and receipt of caps so they should be ordered soon.

Secretary – another brave volunteer!

Jenny Williamson has agreed to be secretary as of September – thank you Jenny. Remember the club is run entirely by volunteers, all of us parents – we do our best – if you think you could help us do better we always need more help – just let us know. Rachel will still type up minutes at meetings.

Web site

And talking of volunteers  Katrina  and Lou are working together to update website. If anyone sees anything missing or would like to see anything being put on here – let them know.

IMPORTANT DATE: ADASC Championships

Our very own swimming gala will be happening on November 27th and 28th . Heats take place on the Friday evening and then long distance races and short distance finals on the Saturday. Everyone takes part, and it’s a great chance for young swimmers to get some personal best times on home ground, as well as a bit of friendly competition between the more experienced!

IMPORTANT DATE: Time trials

We will be holding time trials on October 31st between 3 and 5pm.  We will also be looking at getting teams together for relays to swim at the Sub Regional West Wales Gala being held at Penlan in December. (see below)

Gala secretary update……..

Jean says…..Swimmers should be competing at the West Wales Sub-Regional Competition if they do not have the times for the West Wales Championships which will be held in Feb 2010.

The Sub -Regionals, which is being held on 5th & 6th December at the Penlan Leisure Centre Swansea, has been introduced for swimmers to have a last chance to obtain times to qualify for events in the main championships. Swimmers will not be considered for entry if they do not have official times within the Qualifying / Consideration times set out by the West Wales Aquatics Committee.

Qualifying Consideration times

We are hoping to encourage as many swimmers to enter the Sub Regionals as possible and also enter some relay teams. For further information about this gala see the notice board, which will be restored to its former glory over the next few weeks. Entries for this gala should be submitted by 1st November. For information on this and other regional galas check out :
