APRIL  2010 NEWSLETTERS

*St Brieuc - swim club exchange a success *

An ADASC coach of swimmers and their families were warmly welcomed by our twin club in St Brieuc, Brittany, France this Easter.

An extremely full programme of events included a friendly gala, a trip to a French theme park a reception at the council offices and some traditional Breton dancing. Our swimmers stayed with French families and the parents stayed in luxury chalets not far from the centre of town. A wonderful time was had by all and all were exhausted when they arrived back.
Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation of the event. We very much look forward to hosting St Brieuc at the end of the next Easter holidays in 2011.

Important gala dates

Important news, particularly for the younger squads, the following galas are great for people who are just starting out competing in galas, they will require no times and have a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than some of the bigger galas. We would ask that all swimmers from all squads to commit to attending Ceredigion Champions and ADASC Gala's.

6th June - West Wales Development meet - Llanelli
10th July - novice meet, Aberystwyth with local Ceredigion and Carmarthen clubs
6/7th November - Ceredigion Championships (this year in Aberystwyth!)
14th November - Ceredigion Championship (long distances) Newcastle Emlyn
11th December - (provisional) ADASC club gala, all swimmers should attend.

ADASC AGM - Membership secretary urgently needed

The ADASC AGM is happening next Wednesday the 28th April.  Everyone is welcome to attend to find out about what the committee
is involved in at the moment and hear the report from the last year. You are welcome to vote in the committee for next year and if there are any posts that you are interested in taking then you can nominate yourself in the week before the meeting.
We are currently urgently looking for a Membership Secretary and a Publicity Officer. These posts are vital for the on-going running of the
club which is run entirely by volunteers (including all the coaches and the committee and admin). Most of the committee are busy people who manage to squeeze some time to try and keep the club moving forward. If you have admin or publicity skills please do contact the committee (or email ) and let us know. We are happy to discuss the posts further

*Thank you Jane!*

Thank you Jane James for all your hard work as membership secretary over the last few years. We are extremely grateful for the work you have done to keep the club membership system running smoothly. We also would like to thank you for the kind offer that you are prepared to help any member who is willing to take the post of membership secretary as they find their feet.

*Lane (ADCC) Coaching and CRB checks*

We are currently short of people to help poolside. Several of you have kindly said that you are willing to help out and we are trying to
organise a time to sort out CRB checks and a training course which would enable you to support our existing coaches. As soon as we have further news of either of these we will let you know.

Trial and Induction Session

We are hoping to have a trial for new members in the near future and also to organise an induction session to explain how the club works to new members, look out for dates.

*Masters Group*

Some parents have already started coming to our masters group on Thursday evenings between 8 and 9. During this time we
get a bit of input from the coaches and get to know what our children are having to do as well as (hopefully) improving our swim technique.
The sessions cost £3. If we keep it up hopefully we will do better when we meet St Brieuc next year!.

*Thursday Session 8pm- 9pm ( 3 weeks out of 4 every month) – *
A new session is now available to some swimmers in A squad, all squad 1 and some squad members from Junior 2 on recommendation from their Coach(es).   It was felt that the session was too late for the (younger) lower squads. There will be an additional amount added to the standing order of swimmers attending the Thursday session . .Any queries text or ring Nigel on .

Discussions with the Ceredigion Council

We are hoping to have a meeting with the Council to discuss how we can work together to support swimming in the area.

Thanks to Autocraft sponsorship

Thanks to Autocraft for donating £50 towards a new trophy. If you know any organisation or business you think would be willing to sponsor an ADASC trophy for our own championships in December, please let a committee member know, as some of our trophies are well worn and need replacing.

*Well done Teleri!*

Teleri Donnelly had just completed 200 hours of Volunteer Millennium work including her work volunteering with the Club. Thank you and well done Teleri!
